8).MONUMEN MANDALA
The monument which is located on Jl Jenderal Sudirman is one of the historical attractions. The location is only 200 meters south of the zero point kilometer of Makassar City, Karebosi Field. Next to General M Yusuf's Warrior Hall Building. The Mandala Monument was built in 1994 and completed in 1996. The construction was aimed at commemorating the services of heroes in liberating West Irian from the hands of the invaders as well as the prize for the services of the second ex-Indonesian President, Soeharto.
Mandala there are 4 floors:
- First Floor
there are relief dioramas and clothing replicas and struggles of the people of South Sulawesi in the XVII century.
- Second Floors
While on the second floor there are dioramas and reliefs which tell about the struggle for the liberation of West Irian
- Third Floors
We can see a replica of the Panglima Mandala's office, complete with a map of West Irian, photographs of preparations for troop departure, positions and clothing used during the Mandala operation
- Forth Floors
Entering the fourth floor is a view room where visitors can see the atmosphere of Makassar city from a height.
